Days at the park.

DSC_0466

The last couple of days, we have taken advantage of the beautiful weather and ventured out to a couple of parks.

Yesterday, Nanny, Hayden, and I went to the local city park.  I do like it because it has things appropriate for Hayden to play on and is pretty low key.  They have recently added a toddler part which makes it nice!  But, Hayden wanted to keep going up and down the big slide.  I didn’t get pictures because I was too busy going up and down with him!  Ha!  Hayden also loves the ducks that live there.   Hayden and Nanny were checking out some little fish.

Today, Hayden and I went with Amy, Hudson, and baby Hayson to Sulphur Springs to the Kids Kingdom park there.  They have a HUGE wooden park area there that is so fun!  But, when we got there, there were a TON of big kids there on a field trip and were entirely too crazy and rough for our boys!  Luckily there were a couple of other play areas a little walk away so we were able to enjoy those for a bit.  We were a little disappointed but the boys didn’t know any different!

Hudson wanted Hayden to play with him.  Hudson couldn’t understand why Hayden didn’t want to do what he wanted to do.  Hayden was too busy walking around the concrete to climb on the playground!

We enjoyed a picnic lunch in the shade!  I guess Hayden needed to rest.

Of course, Hayden needed to love on baby Hayson.   DSC_0494

We ended up not staying but a little over an hour.  But, the boys had fun anyway.

We decided to go back to our friends house to play for a little bit longer.

And, finish eating our sandwich of course.

The boys went in to play for a few minutes before we left and these boys LOVE their tractors!  Hayden was in Heaven with all Hudson’s tractors!  Hayden particularly loved the hay baler.  I lost count of how many times those boys said “Tractor,  Tractor, Tractor” today.  I guess that it what happens when you live in the country!

Gardening, Suckers, and Chalk

Today was such a beautiful day!  We were able to get out and enjoy it most of the day!

I just thought I would take  a moment to share with you that Hayden is a GREAT plant pruner.  He also likes to drive his wheelbarrow across all the flower beds.  He is such a great helper.  I wonder how long we will actually have flowers?   DSC_0442_edited-1 DSC_0444_edited-1 DSC_0445_edited-1

(Side note: Why was I taking pictures instead of stopping him? Ha!)

Hayden was able to enjoy a ring pop this afternoon.  You think he liked it  much?  Ha

Every time we go to Nanny and Granddaddy’s house, Hayden heads straight for the sidewalk chalk bucket and says “Help, Help, Help.”

He pretty much draws straight lines over and over and over.  Particularly if anyone else draws anything.  He finds it and makes his mark on it!  So funny!

A buffet (post fire) re-do.

I got this buffet, that was previously my maternal grandparent’s, about 10 years ago.  I just love it.  It has traveled along with each of our moves and was in our bedroom at the time of our house fire last summer.  It reeked of smoke, but I couldn’t stand to get rid of it.   I originally painted it white when I first got it.  DSC_1034

Like crazy woman, I thought that redoing this buffet would be a good idea two days before Hayden’s birthday party.  What on earth was I thinking?  Like I didn’t have enough to do already!  Ha!  I was literally painting and sanding by moonlight one night because I didn’t want June bugs to peg me in the head if I had on the porch light!

I cleaned it up a bit before I got it ready to paint again.  Can you tell?  ;-)

When I was taking it apart, I found this newspaper clipping stuck in the back between a piece of trim.  Remember this.  I will blog more about this another day.DSC_1043

I was able to sand it, kilz primer it, paint it, and sand it again to get it finished before Hayden’s party.  I put in in our hallway under our chalkboard window and I love having it back in our house!

Gotta catch up!

I feel like I haven’t blogged in a week!  Oh wait, I haven’t!  So sorry!  I have been slacking lately.  I have been sick for the past 3 days.  Does that count?  I am feeling much better today though.

What has been going on with us?

Last Friday, Hayden went on his first trip out of town/state without us!  He went to Oklahoma for the day with his Nana (Jeff’s Mom) and Lulu (Jeff’s sister) to look at a place for a family reunion and each lunch with Truman and Bub (two of Nana’s brothers).  Jeff and I were a little anxious about it but of course Hayden did great.  Or at least that is what Nana and Lulu have told us!

On Thursday, Hayden spent the day with his Nana while I went to Canton with a friend.  I showed her a few new places (“the junk part” where you can find treasures) and we had a GREAT time!  I ended up with a cute pair of shoes and a little bucket for Hayden’s room.  Thank you Nana for letting Hayden hang out with you!

Saturday Hayden went with me to the doctor that morning.  Then, that afternoon we went to Payton’s birthday party!  We had a great time but had to leave a little early from the party since we thought storms were headed our way.

Hayden had his first Capri Sun at her party.  I think he kind of liked it.  He sucked it dry!

Today, church, lunch at the Smith’s, and naptime for all of us.  Tonight, Jeff and Hayden played so hard.  I don’t think I have ever heard Hayden laugh as hard and as much as he did tonight.  Jeff built them a fort/tent/play area.  Hayden thought that was so fun!

They played some basketball.  Then, things got silly.  Hayden would throw the ball at Jeff and Jeff would pull out his best soccer moves and bounce the ball of his head.  Hayden thought this was the funniest thing EVER.  They did this for no less than 30 minutes.  Hayden’s face was SO red from laughing and playing so hard!

Hayden decided he needed his boots on.  He put them on all by himself.  Backwards, but that doesn’t matter does it?
