Thanksgiving

Our Thanksgiving week off from school consisted of passing around the the FLU!  Yuck!  Sunday before Thanksgiving, I felt terrible!  Thankfully after lunch, Hayden laid down with me for a nap and slept until Jeff got home from work.  I didn’t get out of bed until the next morning when I went to the doctor.  Sure enough, after the horrible flu test, it came back positive immediately.  The doctor said I was highly contagious.  We went and picked up prescriptions, lots of vitamin c, Lysol,  germ-x and Jeff got a flu shot!  We tried to prevent everyone else getting it! 

Thursday {Thanksgiving Day} we were all feeling pretty good.  That day for lunch we went to the Smith’s.  Then after we had a yummy lunch there, we headed over to Aunt Barbara and Gary’s for a visit with everyone.

The cousins always have a super fun time together. I love it when they get to hang out together. I have the best memories of growing up with my cousins!

Thursday night Jeff starting feeling yucky and had the flu through Sunday/Monday.  I did get to go do some Black Friday shopping all night that night.  I got home about 9:30 AM Friday morning.  Fun, Fun! 

Sunday, Hayden started running a fever and by Monday morning he was one sick little boy.  So, Monday we took him to the doctor and sure enough he tested positive for the flu.  He hasn’t ever been this sick before.  He has still felt kind of yucky today (Wednesday), but is certainly much better and has pretty much been fever free today.  

I haven’t had a flu shot in many many years and haven’t gotten Hayden one since he was a baby. But, I can guarantee that our entire family will all have them next year!

We have kind of taken things easy the last week and a half.  Taking lots of naps and resting/watching a lot of shows.   Sunday night we decided to have a family movie night and watch Shrek.  Look who made herself all comfy!

We are all anxious to be back to feeling normal soon!   Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving and Black Friday

It is so hard to believe that Thanksgiving has come and gone and now Christmas is upon us! 

We had a great Thanksgiving meal at my nephew Chance and his wife Stefanie’s house. Most of the people I didn’t know, but we still enjoyed our time and ate tons of yummy food!  There were 32 people there and we actually circled up and shared what we were thankful for.  I loved that.

Last year on Thanksgiving Day.

I may or may not have been goosing him to get him to smile. 

Hayden knew what he wanted for lunch!  Anything on the dessert table.  Ha!

We got home mid-afternoon on Thanksgiving and I knew WE needed to get a nap in!  Hayden, because he was heading to Nana and Papa’s and needed to not be grumpy and I was heading out to shop.  Hayden slept until 6:30 PM.  So, I was able to sneak in about a 45 minutes refresher nap.  Took Hayden to spend the night and I got ready to go with my SIL, Yolanda, for what turned out to be a 14 hour, ALL NIGHT, shopping adventure!   We left about 8:45 PM and got back home about 10:30 AM.  Crazy!  Definitely a first for me!  Not the 14 hour shopping day, the ALL NIGHT shopping.  I can’t remember the last time I stayed up all night.  High School maybe? 

Here is our list of stops… Wal-Mart (crazy!), Whataburger (30 minutes wait in the drive through and they forgot our fries!!), Target (THE MOST CRAZY!!), Old Navy, Bath and Body Works, Kohls, JC Penny, Dicks, Bed Bath and Beyond, Chick-Fil-A, Toys R Us, Wal-Mart again, home! 

This year was much more crowded and crazy than last.  Target beat anything I have ever seen before.  I think it was the earlier starting shopping times.  People were more likely to stay up and go shopping than get up in the middle of the night.  After JC Penny, we didn’t wait in any lines.

After I got home, I took about a 2 hour nap, then headed to pick up Hayden.  I was wishing I didn't take that nap.  I felt horrible.  Like I had stayed up all night.  Ha! 

I am not real sure how many deals we really got, but we had fun doing it!  I loved getting to shop with my SIL and checking in with my best friend Jen (by phone) throughout the night! 

Gobble, Gobble!

Hayden has his Thanksgiving Feast tomorrow at school and we were assigned to bring rolled ham.  Woohoo!  Ha!  I saw these cute little turkeys on Pinterest and I couldn’t resist!

Here is my finished product.  Cute huh?

They really were easy!  They certainly aren’t perfect.  Far from it, but still kind of cute !  ;-)

Thanksgiving Recap. Dinner #2 and #3

On Saturday, after getting rested from Black Friday, we had a late lunch at my brother’s house.   As usual, my SIL Shabre outdid herself cooking tons of food for a large crowd.  Many of Bubba and Shabre’s friends joined for lunch.

The weather was beautiful and we enjoyed time outside.

This picture makes me laugh.  Not only is he not smiling, but giving a look of “Why are you taking my picture, AGAIN!” And, there is a pole sticking out of Hayden’s head. 

Going to check out the mower!  Exciting stuff you know!

After we left, we went “safe” shopping.  Fire-proof safe shopping to be exact.  We aren’t making that mistake again.  Somehow we left with these super cute boots along with our new safe.

  

I guess because Hayden likes his Daddy’s so much.  Now he has his own pair and he is so excited his new boots!

On Sunday, we had our 3rd Thanksgiving Dinner after church at Jeff’s Momma and Daddy’s house.  The sad part-I did not take one single picture.  Lunch was wonderful and we again, ate way too much!  

I think we were about Thanksgiving dinner’d out, but oh my…it is always so good!!

Thanksgiving 2010 Recap-Dinner #1

Finally, a week later, I am blogging about our Thanksgiving week!  Better late than never right?  This post is picture heavy!

On Thanksgiving Day, Jeff had to work.  As he always does on Thanksgiving.  Boo! 

Hayden and I bundled up and went to my Aunt Barbara’s house for lunch.  It was so cold on Thanksgiving Day!

We had a fabulous lunch and of course ate way too much!

Hayden rode on a rocking horse for the first time.  At first, he wasn’t so sure about it.  But, he quickly fell in love with it!

Somehow I missed getting a picture of Aunt Barbara’s hubby, Gary. I guess he was too busy outside cooking the turkey!  So sad!

We missed seeing all our other cousins and their families.  Maybe Christmas?
