Swimming, Swimming, and More Swimming!

DSC_0199

This morning, Hayden and I headed out for another fun day with friends…swimming!

We met Kristin and Payton…

Then, we enjoyed our picnic lunch.  Hayden loved his lunch.  Or, the chips I packed and the Oreo's that Kristin gave him.   What else are you supposed to eat poolside besides junk?

After lunch,  Hayden decided he wanted to get brave!  He was just floating around taking it easy.  I was really proud of how well he did getting back to the steps or side of the pool.

We came home from swimming and took a 45 minute nap only to get up and head out for our third day of swim lessons.  He did much better yesterday than the first day.  But, cried for about 20 minutes today at the beginning of our lesson.  Maybe he was just tired of swimming.  But, we got back in the swing of things and he finished out the last half of the lesson doing well.  He went under a few times today.  They had him go head first through a hula hoop that was on the surface of the water today.  A little scary for a momma, but he never cried once after going under water.

We had a long but super fun day of swimming.  I am pretty sure that it took Hayden about 2.2 seconds to go to sleep tonight.  Oh, and today was the second day of NO PACI!!!  Woot Woot!  He never mentioned it at all today except once right before bed.  We told him he was a big boy and didn’t need it any more.  He was fine with it!  Praise the Lord this has been much easier than I thought!

Have a great weekend!

A game of "Paci Take-Away"

Oh how Hayden loves to play a good game of "Paci Take-Away" with his Daddy and Granddaddy.

Hayden will try to put his paci in his Granddaddy's mouth and Dad will take it and put it his mouth. Hayden will laugh, laugh, laugh. Then, Hayden will grab it and put it in his mouth. They will do it over and over again. Hayden thinks this is so much fun. Dad said that we needed sound to go along with these pictures because hearing him laugh like this is priceless!

The bad thing is that he is usually playing this game with Jeff when it is time to go to sleep and Jeff is rocking him. That's ok, it's absolutely precious to hear him laugh!

Bye, Bye Paci, Hello Thumb!

Well, I think it is official. We can trash the paci! Hayden has not ever really loved the paci. He would take it off and on in the beginning, but has slowly been rejecting it. We switched between the soothie and the nuk paci. He won't take either now, especially from me. He has discovered his thumb and likes it much better! I am not sure how I feel about this. I liked the paci for the fact I could remove it or get rid of it when we wanted to. I liked that I could give it to him when I was driving and he was upset. However, he has gotten much better at "self-soothing" since he has discovered his thumb. This has made going to sleep a much smoother process! He really hasn't gotten the grasp of having a blankie, silkie, friend, or whatever you might call it. So, for now, I guess we are stuck with the thumb! Hopefully he won't be a kindergartner still sucking his thumb!
