6 weeks already?

Wow! Where does time go? Our baby boy is 6 weeks old already! I think about if I had to go back to work right now...I can't imagine!

Hayden is starting to "coo" a lot more and often holds his head up for 30 seconds to a minute. When should we start the bumbo seat? I don't think it will be long before he starts to smile! He has pretty much grown out of his newborn things now. They are quite snug these days! Time for some big boy clothes! Diapers...UHG! He is still wearing newborns, but I don't feel like they fit that great. We have tried both Huggies and Pampers and they both leak!! Pampers out he top and Huggies out the side. Anyone have better luck with boys and another brand?

Hayden is still fussy quite often in the evenings. He is currently taking Previcid for reflux and it has seemed to help a little. The doctor also recommended giving him a little cereal at his bedtime feeding. So, with hesitation, I started giving him a little oatmeal cereal at his 9-10 PM feeding. This worked great on Monday and tonight (so far). Not so much last night...probably because I tried to put him in his bed. :-/ That brings me to another point...Hayden HATES his bed!! He will be dead asleep and we put him in his bed and 10 minutes later he flailing his arms and legs around and starts screaming! We don't ever put him down in his bed unless it has been an hour or so since a feeding because the milk seems to start coming back up if we do and he starts gagging/swallowing. Poor baby, it is horrible! We have tried to be "tough" a few times and let him cry in his bed to try to get him to go back to sleep. The longest I have gone...25 minutes. Jeff...5 minutes. He is a little weaker than me (Ha!), but obviously I couldn't resist either. So, needless to say, Hayden sleeps in his swing. And, yes, I have to rock him to sleep most times unless he fell asleep in the carseat or in the sling.

So, I think about it all the time. I don't want the reflux to bother him and don't want him to start gagging, but feel like he needs to start sleeping his bed at some point soon! And, I don't want to have to rock him every time either (although I LOVE it!). I really feel like sometimes he gets antsy and tired of rocking and just gets fussy. But, if you lay him down...the screaming begins! I have heard some people have had some luck with visiting the chiropractor for the fussiness/reflux. I may call tomorrow to ask about it.

Any advice??? I keep reading the Baby Wise book and it make it all sound so easy! It's not! I just want to make the right decisions!!

Other than this, we are doing GREAT!!!!!!!!!!! We love our baby more than we ever imagined we could! Here are some more pictures of our growing boy!

This is a new thing. He doesn't do it to often, but he fell asleep in my arms like this as I was running around like my head was cut off. I had just changed his diaper 3 times in a row. Then the dog threw up on our bed and Hayden was crying and Jeff had called. Seriously all within a minute or so. So, I had him in my arms, trying to change the sheets and talk to Jeff and I look down and he is asleep sucking his thumb. So Sweet!!

Loving on his Nanny (my mom) after she had been gone for 10 days to visit my Aunt Kathy and my Grandaddy in Vegas.

PS...Hayden had gained a pound (8 lbs, 4 oz.) and grown another 1/2 inch (21 inches) at his 1 month check-up (since the 2 week visit).

Sneak Peek...Newborn Photos

We got newborn photos taken a couple of weeks ago. It was quite the experience!! A friend of a friend, Dosha, took them for us and she was so patient with us. It was her first newborn session. I have gotten a sneak peek at a few of the photos. I love them! I can't wait to see the rest!

1 Month Old!

I can hardly believe that our baby is one month old! He is much more alert and doing a great job holding his head up. We are so anxious for him to start showing some emotion other than crying or not crying. :-) We are ready for some smiles!

We got out of the house a little more this week. Hayden and I are becoming a little more adventurous! We went to my parents house on Tuesday night. Then, we went to Jeff's parents last night and then Cindy came and visited us tonight! It is nice to get out of the house and visit our family! Nanny...you better hurry and get home! Hayden misses you!

We go back to the doctor tomorrow to see how he has grown! I am sure like most breast feeding moms, you often wonder if your baby is getting enough nourishment. I guess he would let me know if he wasn't! I definitely think he has grown since the last doctor visit! Can't wait to see how much!

Here are some pictures from this week:

Lounging in one of his bouncer seats while Mommy got to eat a quick bite!
Sweet boy!

This picture cracked me up! I am not sure what he is doing with his hands, but he slept like this the whole time!

Worn out after a walk in the sling! He loves that thing!

First Outing

Tonight was our first outing, just Hayden and I. To where you might ask? Sonic! I was dying to get out of the house, so I decided to take Hayden for a ride. I seriously broke a sweat carrying him in his car seat to the car. Then, it took me like 5 minutes to get all the mirrors and my seat adjusted. I drove UNDER the speed limit the whole time riding the white line. I felt like I was 16 again trying to pass my driving test. It was so weird to look back and see him in the mirror. I was praying he wouldn't start screaming because I didn't know what I would do then. But, he didn't! He was PERFECT! And the strawberry limeade was better than ever!

It's the small things that matter so much these days...

Video Footage!

Here is our first video of our precious bundle of joy! (Pardon Jeff doing dishes in the background.) We got a new "Flip" video camera yesterday and we are so excited! We love how easy it is to use! Again, new moms...great idea to get one! You can get it at Wal-Mart, Best Buy, etc. for about $100. We found ours on Woot for $70. Woot is a site that sells one item a day until it sells out.

And yes, with all the cute outfits we have, we still choose to hang out either naked (with a diaper of course) or in our hospital t-shirt. :-) In reality, he still has some growing to do before he can start wearing most of his clothes.

Reality!

So, reality hits today. Today is the day I have been dreading! Jeff goes back to work today! :-( He has been such a huge help and it is so nice to have him here to take over when Hayden is having a rough time! He is so good with him!

Say a little prayer for us that Hayden has a good night! We will miss you Daddy!

Just for fun!

Our Second Week at Home

I would say our second week at home has been a success! We really haven't had another night like Saturday, thank goodness! We still have had some late night bouts of crying, but not like that night! Hayden is pretty much on a 3 hour eating schedule. Every once in a while he will go 4 hours which is always a nice surprise when you wake up and notice you got an extra hour of sleep!

On Sunday, we went to see my parents at their house. For some reason I had the chills and couldn't get rid of them. Then, by the time we left there my body hurt so bad all over! So, luckily I had pumped enough milk to get three bottles ready and I went to bed. Jeff was on Daddy duty! Hayden and Daddy did great! I woke up in the middle of the night and took my temperature and it was 103.3. I had no idea what was wrong other than I felt like I had been run over by a truck and I was running a high fever! After some middle of the night internet research, I finally figured out I had mastitis. So, I called the doctor the next day and they called me in some antibiotics. So, by Tuesday morning I was much better!

On Thursday, we had Hayden's two week check-up. The goal was for him to be back up to birth weight. Well, he was exactly 7 lbs 4 oz and was 20.5 inches long (an inch longer)! A funny story...they told us to go ahead and start getting him naked so they could weigh him. So, Jeff started taking everything off and I was sitting right next to them. Lucky me, I got a straight shot of pee when the diaper came off! :-) We go back to the doctor in two more weeks for another check-up!

On Friday, I was like a free woman! We had several errands to run, so Jeff offered to watch Hayden while I got out of the house for a little bit! It was my first time to drive since delivery. It was so nice to just listen to the radio and have some "me" time. Jeff called about 5 minutes before I got home wanting to know when I would be home because Little Man was hungry! Luckily I made it just in time!

Here are some pictures from this week...

One of the few times you will catch him with the pacifier. He doesn't really care for it too much.

A little smile? Or getting rid of something in your diaper?
