House Update 6-30-10

DSC_0339

I really don’t have a lot to share for an update other than we found out today that our insurance company did declare our house a total loss.   This should adequately cover the cost of rebuilding.  We put our blood, sweat, and tears into building our home the first time.  I am guessing we will be hiring a lot more of the work to be done for us this time around.  I don’t think we have it in us to do again!  I don’t think our friends and family have it in them to do it again.  Ha!  We promised our family we wouldn’t move again for a very long time (or ever)since they have moved us 4 times in less than 3 years.   Little did we know we would be “moving” again in less than 8 months.

We are still working on our inventory list for the insurance company.  THIS. IS. A. BEATING!  We have a pretty good inventory list.  The hard part is finding and writing down prices for everything.  Everything from our q-tips to our cooking spray to every piece of clothing to every Christmas decoration.  For all you teachers out there…try thinking of everything you have/had in your classroom.  Craziness!  It is so time consuming and we pretty much have spent our nights after Hayden goes to bed working on this.  This is how we spent last Saturday and our anniversary too.  Going to Target writing down prices for things…with a one year old! Good times!   Cindy suggested we start a registry and just “register” for everything we could think of that we had then we could just print it out and not have to look as much of it up.  Such a great idea!  So,we did this on Thursday and probably got through about 1/4 of the store.  Unfortunately, about 1/3 of it didn’t have prices listed on the printout, but it did help A LOT!   I will definitely be going back to add to the list.  Less I have to write down!

We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of our friends, family, and total strangers!  We have truly been blessed beyond measure this past week.  From money, gift cards, personal items, clothes, toys and books for Hayden, etc.  Jeff was even given a new shotgun from one of the departments at work.  So many of you have offered to help us in any way.  Right now we are in a holding pattern.  But, I can’t say we won’t have a work day or ten that we will ask you to come help us.  Ha!  We will forever be grateful for your kind and giving hearts!

**The picture above is just one I took of a picture we had in the house.  We are so thankful that our pictures in the house survived!
