This boy can eat!

Hayden has become quite the eater! He will eat anything you give him. Aside from getting it all over him, he is doing great with self-feeding.

Enjoying some blueberries and sweet potatoes!

Enjoying some black beans...
black beans

He absolutely went nuts over the black beans. I smashed them up so it made them kind of hard for him to self-feed. Next time I will probably just slightly mash or leave them like they are when I give them to him. He just had them last night so I guess we will see what kind of "aftermath" we have today! Ha!

Our pediatrician said we could start meats with Hayden now. I can hardly stand the sight of the baby food jar meats. We did try the chicken noodle the other day and he loved it. We also tried the lasagna today, but he wasn't as crazy about it. We don't eat a lot of just "meat"...especially without seasonings or something on it. What do/did ya'll do for meats?

I wasn't too crazy about those baby jar meats, either. I mean- I am sure they are fine...but there's just something about meat...in a jar....that doesn't have to be refrigerated??

We would boil some chicken...tried ham or turkey deli meats. But then again....don't take my advice....Parker is a VERY picky eater. We say we are going to do things different with this one! Haha!

We go to the doctor tomorrow and I am guessing she will tell us Payton can have meats too... But i wasn't looking forward to them either.. But yesterday I gave Payton the deli turkey.. she was eating it like a champ.. but then again she eats everything I give her like a champ.

I am not much help.. but I like to hear ideas as you know!! :)

Cute pictures of Hayden!!

Are the black beans like regular black beans in a can that we would eat? Or do they have baby ones? Probably a dumb question.. just curious!

I NEVER, like not even once, tried a meat in a jar. Not chicken noodle, not lasagna, not ONE! I gaged just looking at the stuff. YUCK! So Landree ate meat when she was a little older. And she ate stuff we had just cut up in the super smallest bites. The child could live on beans alone and they have tons of iron and fiber. You know she loves fruits and veggies still so I say get them to eat the good stuff for as long as you can that way when they start liking the 'bad' stuff they still like the things like fruits and veggies too. At preschool the other day, on Letter 'C' day. They had carrots and cookies. Landree asked for more carrots. YEA! Then she asked for Chickfila when I picked her up. It starts with C too... :)

The jarred baby meats are yucky! I don't know ANY babies that will eat that stuff. The jarred spaghetti/tomato baby foods they hate too! Now, we do eat chicken noodle, beef vagetable, chicken n rice in the stage 2. He loves those. We JUST gave Kaden his first REAL meat this week, tiny pieces of chicken and steak last night. You've just gotta go with your ut and figure it out for your baby.

Langston LOVES sweet potatoes. We haven't gotten to the blueberries or beans yet but I can't wait to see him eating them. Sorry I don't have any advice about the meats, but I know when we get there, I want to figure out how I can make it myself. Not make meat, but give him the same type meat that we eat, instead of the jarred meat. Looks gross to me!

You don't know me but I was visiting your blog through a friends. I have a son almost the exact age as yours and a 2 year old daughter. Gerber makes these chicken and turkey sticks in a jar - they look kind of like vienna sausages. I know that is really gross, but they are really soft and both of my kids like them. I would also buy this roasted diced chicken that comes already cooked in the section with the lunch meat (I think it is oscar mayer) and cut it into smaller pieces. It is much easier and faster than actually making the chicken, especially if you are having something your child can't eat!

Meats in a jar are seriously nasty and smell horrible...but, my little guy LOVES the Gerber Graduate turkey and meat sticks. Seriously...he can now eat an entire jar (and he likes them).
Try some lunch meat.
Go for some yummy strawberries, blueberries, and grapes (cut up of course). Babies LOVE fruit (or most do).
