Thanksgiving

Our Thanksgiving week off from school consisted of passing around the the FLU!  Yuck!  Sunday before Thanksgiving, I felt terrible!  Thankfully after lunch, Hayden laid down with me for a nap and slept until Jeff got home from work.  I didn’t get out of bed until the next morning when I went to the doctor.  Sure enough, after the horrible flu test, it came back positive immediately.  The doctor said I was highly contagious.  We went and picked up prescriptions, lots of vitamin c, Lysol,  germ-x and Jeff got a flu shot!  We tried to prevent everyone else getting it!

Thursday {Thanksgiving Day} we were all feeling pretty good.  That day for lunch we went to the Smith’s.  Then after we had a yummy lunch there, we headed over to Aunt Barbara and Gary’s for a visit with everyone.

The cousins always have a super fun time together. I love it when they get to hang out together. I have the best memories of growing up with my cousins!

We are missing a couple of the younger cousins in these picture.  Blade and Aiden were inside playing.

Thursday night Jeff starting feeling yucky and had the flu through Sunday/Monday.  I did get to go do some Black Friday shopping all night that night.  I got home about 9:30 AM Friday morning.  Fun, Fun!

Sunday, Hayden started running a fever and by Monday morning he was one sick little boy.  So, Monday we took him to the doctor and sure enough he tested positive for the flu.  He hasn’t ever been this sick before.  He has still felt kind of yucky today (Wednesday), but is certainly much better and has pretty much been fever free today.

I haven’t had a flu shot in many many years and haven’t gotten Hayden one since he was a baby. But, I can guarantee that our entire family will all have them next year!

We have kind of taken things easy the last week and a half.  Taking lots of naps and resting/watching a lot of shows.   Sunday night we decided to have a family movie night and watch Shrek.  Look who made herself all comfy!

We are all anxious to be back to feeling normal soon!   Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!

Meet Sadie!

We have a new family member.  Last week, Sadie, a chocolate lab, joined the Smith household.  Remember this post?  Well, the little brown puppy is now ours.

Bringing a new puppy into the house has been an adjustment for us all.  This includes Skooter and Chloe.  Needless to say, they are not fans of Sadie.  Yet anyway.  Hopefully they will come around.  But, for now they spend most of their time hiding in the bedroom.  If Sadie gets close to Chloe, this is her reaction…

But, there is one certain little boy that thinks she is pretty special.

She is pretty sweet (when she is sleeping).  Ha!  No, she is just a puppy and is still learning not to jump, bite/chew on everything including Hayden’s legs, arms, feet, etc.  Poor thing!  She is already spoiled.  She much prefers to be inside than outside.  But, she is supposed to be an outside dog.   We shall see…

Hayden’s Thanksgiving Feast

On Thursday, we had our Thanksgiving Feast at Preschool.  Of course I was balancing coordinating it all and still being a Mommy.  But, it was a lot of fun!

All the parents provided different things for our feast.  I had a couple of Moms make a couple of these cute little guys.  They were the hit of the party!

I found this super cute and FREE printable to make our cupcake toppers, banner, drink labels, etc.

We had over 100 people!

Nana was able to come too.  She brought yummy sweet potatoes.  She and Jeff helped me so much before and after the feast.  I AM SO THANKFUL!!!!

Here are some of our table decorations.  The four year old class made “thankful trees” that were precious but took A LOT of time!  I didn’t get a picture of them.  Sad smile You can kind of see it above my head in the picture above.

The kids performed 3 short songs and two of our four year olds said the Lord’s Prayer.  It was precious!

Can you see where our child stood?  In the back.  Covering his ears some of the time.  We had a few have a melt down when they saw their parents.  But, over all it was just so stinkin’ cute!

The hunting lifestyle.

If you have read our blog for any amount of time, you probably know we live the hunting lifestyle.  This time of year especially.  Our weekends and almost every day during the week typically involves hunting.

The first weekend in November we headed to our West Texas deer lease.  The first weekend of rifle season is always fun because get to go two Hunter Appreciation Dinners.  They do lots of raffles and there is always a chance of winning some great things.  We, however, didn’t win anything.

At the deer lease, there is always work to be done…  Fun work of course!  Smile

First morning of rifle season…

I put down the bow and picked up the rifle.  Not a lot luck all weekend.  I did sit in one of Daddy’s stands and saw a really nice 8 pt that I am regretting not taking right now.  :-)

We have been hunting around the house and at my brother’s land and have typically seen more at home than at either of our deer leases.  Dad got this really awesome 8 point.   Scored 126 and weighed 190.  Very nice!

Hayden likes to go hunting too.

Dad has been keeping Hayden a lot so I/we can go hunting in the afternoons.   Last night they went to Aunt Barbara’s and Uncle Gary’s house while Jeff and I both went hunting.  I think Hayden had a ton of fun!

The hunting lifestyle continues…

Jeff nor I have tagged a deer this year.  Not from lack of effort.  That is for sure!

But, we love it!

Halloween 2012

This year for Halloween Hayden dressed up like a Police Man, “just like my daddy” he would say.  He L.O.V.E.S. his police costume.

The Sunday before Halloween we had our Hallelujah festival at our church.

This picture cracks me up!  Lizzy, Uncle Matt, and Hayden were all pretty serious about this game!

DSC_0350

There are several young people at our church that are crazy about Duck Dynasty.  So, of course there had to be a duck blind shooting game as on of the events.  This game had the longest line.  It was a hit!

Uncle Mark helped Hayden and I have to say, they didn’t miss.  They were a great shot!

Orange day at School on the Tuesday before Halloween!

DSC_0444

On Halloween morning, we got up and joined our “Rockwall” friends for a fun and yummy lunch.  Marla, Kristin, and I decided to make some yummy food and get our kiddos together.  I love these kind of days!  But, sadly I didn’t take one single picture.  Just enjoyed the company.

Then, Halloween night…

We started off the night at Nana and Papa’s.

DSC_0452

Then it was off to the town square for a little trunk or treating.

DSC_0453

Hayden really liked “Trick or Treating”.  There were actually a lot of scary costumes around and I thought they would really bother him.  But, I don’t think he noticed too much.  He was a little preoccupied with gathering of his candy!

We got to see a few of our friends too!

Kaden and Hayden

Hayden, Hudson, and Hayson.  Say that three times!  Love the silly/nervous one legged stance. Lol!

DSC_0460DSC_0462

Our last stop was Uncle James and Aunt Mary Helen’s house.   They had yummy candy, fresh batch of “Granny’s oatmeal cookies”, and a cute fireman that Hayden loved too!

Halloween is not my favorite “holiday” but it was fun with Hayden this year because he understood what “trick or treating” really meant!
