Couple of Mommy Questions

1. Do you have any specific baby videos (Praise Baby, Baby Einstein) or music CD's that you and your baby love and at what age you started using them?

2. Soon we will be making a transition to a "real" bed when our house is complete. So, I have a couple of questions... What kind of bed do you have and do you like it? I kind of want one that has a rail that comes down so I don't have to throw Hayden in the bed when the mattress is lowered. But, I want a good bed too. Also, when did you put bumpers in or take them out? Because Hayden is a tummy sleeper, I am a little nervous about this. I don't want his head/face ending up in there, but also want some protection when he scoots all the way to the top of the bed like he does now.

Thanks for your help!

I just bought Payton the baby Einstein movie for 3 month olds this past week. It really catches her attention. I am not sure how good they really are, but I have had several friends tell me that they are wonderful. So I am giving it a try.

I don't have much of an answer on the 2nd question, I do love Payton's crib, yet she has not slept in it yet. (Parker sleeps in it all the time though) I am making that transition next week once she turns 3 months. But I have heard that the bumpers are not safe for the baby's. We have a stork craft Aspen crib. And the mattress is from babiesrus, not the most expensive one but for sure not the cheapest one.

I know not much help, but I may would give the Einstein video a try. :)

We loved the Baby Einstein videos too. We used them fairly early (like 3-6 months).

I took the bumper out once our kids could roll or move. They just seem too dangerous to me!

Our mattress was from Toys R Us.

I hope this helps!

Baby Einstein all the way...I bet he would be ready. I remember Kade laughing out loud at a few of them at 4 months.

I never took Kade's bumper pads out. We bought our bed from Babys R Us as well as the mattress. I don't remember the brand though. We bought a convertible bed that turns into a daybed and then a full size bed.

Baby Faith videos! Barrett loves them. They are a lot like Baby Einstein, but with the religious flare added (sweet music too). I started using them EARLY (like at 3-4 months)
I still have B's bumper pads (even though the mattress is on it's lowest level). It keeps him from sticking his legs and hands through (so far...)

The same day you posted this another one of the blogs I read, had a post about her feelings on bumper pads....needless to say I took Mason's out the next day. I haven't done any research on the subject myself though. Here's the blog address....

We never really got into any of the videos, however, if you're looking for bumpers you might want to check into Breathable Baby bumpers. Careful though because they don't really fit all crib types as some packages advertise. We left regular bumpers on our daughter's bed from day one, but I have not put them on our son's bed yet. I will wait until he is strong and smart enough to move away from them should the need arise. They were mainly helpful with keeping limbs IN the crib. :o)

Hi Megan!
We had Dish TV and have subscribed to Baby First TV, it cost $5 a month and Kaden LOVES it, we've had it for two full months now, he is INTRIGUED by the shows on their! Very good developmental shows.
Kaden has a crib with regular old bumper pads on it, I have them tucked under his mattress on the bottom edges, he only naps in their for now, but he is a MANIAC in his bed flipping and rolling and getting stuck laying the short way instead of the long way in the crib. I think he is strong enough to move his head and have never had concerns of him suffocating himself. You have to decide what makes you the most comfortable, but for me I know I would have Kadens arms and legs sticking out the rails if we didn't have bumper pads! And, he would have some awful marks on his head from pushing up against the rails. He does great in his pack n play bed, too, but it doesn't have bumpers just mesh, have you moved Hayden into the deep part of the pack n play bed yet? I have no clue when I am going too be able to put Kaden in his own room, I just CAN'T do it yet, it seems so far to the other end of the house! :)

They can watch the Einstein videos basically from birth. Put him in his swing in front of the tv and it will catch his attention. Mindy already lets Luke watch those all the time and she says that he loves it!

I would definitely get a convertible crib and I have always kept the bumpers in b/c my girls always had pacis and they would fall out it there was nothing to catch them. Lola is almost 2 and she still has her bumper, and is a tummy sleeper. If it makes you nervous then don't use it, it just looks a whole lot cuter with it in there! When are you going to bring that little guy up so that we can see him?
