Sunday…Just a normal Sunday for us. Church, lunch, nap, dinner, play, bed. :-) Of course, Hayden always loves being with his family on Sundays. He is not spoiled at all and gets no attention while he is there!
Don’t let this face fool you. He just didn’t want his picture taken. And, every picture I got of Grayson had his eyes closed.
On Monday, Hayden and I made a run to Wal-Mart. We have had this fishbowl that one of Mom’s flower arrangements came in from her funeral. I have wanted to get Hayden a fish since then to go in it, so that is what we did! He loves taking care of it and of course wants to feed it all the time. But, actually he wants it “out of there”. He wants to play with it so bad!
On Monday nights, we have started attending a bible study with a few couples from our church. Jeff misses church on Sundays due to work so it is nice to be able to go together. It was our night to bring dinner. Pioneer Woman chicken spaghetti was on the menu. YUM! Of course, we have to carry all our goodies Thirty-One style! :-)
The clouds on Monday were so crazy and beautiful at the same time. It looked like it could just come a flood all day, but never did.
On Tuesday (and Thursday), we had school. I am loving my new job. It is a great way to get my “fix” being back in the education world yet is only two days a week and allows me to still be a stay at home mommy too!
On Wednesday, we went to Tyler to see Grayson after his surgery. This was his final surgery (total of three) after his wreck. Hopefully he will be able to heal and be back to normal soon!
On Friday, we made a trip to Bass Pro Shops. We kind of like that place! It was my turn to load up on some new Camo gear. We have been practicing with our bow’s every night. Two more weeks until the season begins!
On Saturday, Hayden and I headed to Parker’s birthday party! Before the party, we made a pit stop at In-and-Out Burger. There is so much hype and I guess I needed to see what it is was all about. I have to admit, I was not impressed at all. I mean, it was fine. Not fabulous. Maybe just the simplicity of the menu makes it cool? Not sure! :-)
Then it was party time! Parker’s party was a “gymnastics” party. It was so much fun!
But, Hayden would not leave my side. He would not go out and participate with the rest of the kids unless I was right there with him. He’s a mess!
The sweet birthday girl! She had the best time and was all smiles!
Saturday night around 11:00 I hear our sweet boy throwing up in his bed. He was still half asleep and was just a mess along with everything around him. It was bath, change bedding, and back to bed. He was shaking and just a pitiful sight. About midnight, he called me in there and we made it to the bathroom that time. I finally got him to eat some crackers and drink a little juice. He slept until about 6:00 AM then came and got in bed with me. We slept until about 8:30 AM and he has felt great since then. I don’t know what it was, but I am hoping it was just a fluke and not a virus. We stayed home all day and just had a day of rest. I have to admit, it was so nice to just be home all day and snuggle with my boy!
This has been our County Fair Week around here. Big time you know! We went two times as a family and then one night I snuck away myself to watch the Miss Rains County pageant. Hayden rode one ride and wanted off pretty much the whole time. He’s not much into adventure. He did enjoy the atmosphere, cotton candy, checking out the show animals and watching the mutton bustin’. If you don’t know, mutton bustin’ is for kids and you climb on a sheep and hold on for dear life while he takes off running. Pretty funny! There were a lot of kids participate last night. Great entertainment! They even had kids dressed up as clowns to protect the riders and a sheep scramble where they had to chase the sheep down to get a tag off its neck for a prize. Too funny!
After we got home, Hayden was on a roll! He was wound up and after watching the bull riding a few weeks ago and the mutton bustin’ tonight, he was ready to ride his horse!
Here are a few short videos I took of him last night.
Hayden taking a short ride, then telling you about his night.
Then, today Hayden and I went to the parade. Because, that is what you do the Saturday of fair week. Well, we started at Good Samaritans. Found a book on Turkeys and a little toy motorcycle. Hayden wasn’t really in the mood to look around much. Then, we headed into town for a fine sit-down breakfast at the donut shop. Then, off to claim our spot on the square for the parade. Of course, we had to bring a special caddy for all our parade candy!
Cousin love!
The parade is a pretty big deal. It’s all about…
Horses…
Beauty Queens…
Firetrucks…
And collecting candy!
They were also having a car show. We didn’t stick around for that. We had a little shopping to do in Rockwall instead.
Tonight, we decided to go support our church softball team. Of course, Hayden needed to bring his glove and ball too.
Oh...so close, but not quite a catch! We will keep practicing!
Jeff had a workday at our Oklahoma Deer Lease with everyone else who was on it this past Saturday. So, we decided to load up our travel trailer and make the best of it. We headed to Beavers Bend on Thursday night after we got done with school. Our lease is about 40 miles north of Beavers Bend so that makes it pretty convenient.
When we got up Friday morning we headed to the local restaurant/store to get some coffee. We had everything to make coffee but no coffee pot. Hmm, kind of important. Must have left it at home. Anyway, the store never opened so we had to improvise. Jeff heated up water and put coffee inside a paper towel and dipped it the hot water until we had coffee! Pretty clever huh? And it tasted good!
Anyway, while we were waiting on the store to open (we thought), we did some exploring! Hayden was decked out in his pj’s and cowboy boots!
I think Beaver’s Bend is so beautiful!
The water is so smooth! I always love reflection shots!
This little guy was hanging out by our trailer.
They were having a woodworking competition there at Beaver’s bend while we were there. Lots of guys doing things with their lathes. Jeff was so excited that they happened to be there. Good guy fun! Ha! I didn’t get a picture though. Although, they had an exhibit with some things some people had made. Pretty cool!
Friday afternoon we loaded up and headed to Honobia where our lease is. Lucky for us there is a RV camp inside the tiniest little “town”. Really, there is nothing there other than this camp, little store, and mechanic shop which the same person owns.
Campsite #2 for the weekend.
Our lease is way up there!
Hayden found a couple of friends. One of which he named Saydie and he talked to her on the phone a lot the rest of the weekend after she went back home.
We don’t go many places without the ole’ John Deere. Hayden is kind of partial to it. Even though it looks like it has been beat up, it still runs like a Deere. :-)
He loved riding through the “forest”.
Saturday was a work day at the lease. Basically everyone was there to help each other. They cleared out spots for travel trailers, fixed feeders/stands, etc. The weather could not have been more perfect!
Pictures around camp.
Jeff got our spot cleared out for our trailer and that afternoon we moved it up the big hill into our spot. That was an experience…but Jeff did great!
All that hard work called for a little picnic lunch.
So, we say that we are on this deer lease. But, Dad suggested we call it a “bear lease” because this is all we pretty much have on our trail camera by Jeff’s blind.
So, Jeff is going to buy a “bear tag” in hopes of getting this guy with his bow. I’ll be hanging out at camp. This scares me to death! A few of the guys feeders were destroyed by bears. Luckily Jeff’s made the cut and was still standing! We are hoping that the bears will hibernate and go away soon so the deer will start coming in.
We came home late Saturday night. We weren’t ready to leave but Jeff had to work and I had to teach Sunday School Sunday morning. But, we had a fun weekend outdoors!
