Good Samaritan Saturday

Last Saturday was the first time I had been able to go to Good Samaritans in several weeks.  I picked Jen up that morning and we headed to GS before our girls day/night out.  I found this 8x10 frame (empty at the time) and stole the back and glass out of an old frame of moms.

It was already painted black and it was a perfect addition to our picture wall!  I also found another nice wooden black frame and gave it to mom.  I paid $3.00 for both frames.

Speaking of our girls day/night out…It was so much fun!  Jen and I met up with Shauna in Dallas at our hotel, checked in, and headed out for a full day of fun.  We ate lunch at Luna de Noche (they have the yummiest salsas) then headed to Marshalls and Ross so I could make some returns.  Then, we headed to North Park with everyone else in Dallas.  Ha!  Not really, by the time we got there it wasn’t so bad.  We stayed there until closing time and then headed to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory.   Oh so yummy!  We got in bed by midnight and slept until 9:45 AM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Holy Moly!   What a treat!  We went to breakfast in our pj’s (at the hotel) and then got ready for another day of shopping.  We literally went to every Target, Ross, Marshalls, TJ Maxx within a 60 mile radius.  Gotta love those places!  I made it home about 10:30 Sunday night.  That was the first time I had ever spent the night away from Hayden and definitely the longest I had ever been away from him.  I am pretty sure that Hayden and his Daddy had tons of fun together and it was a good break for Mommy!

Back to GS Saturday…

Jen and I met at GS again this morning.  It was another successful trip in my book!  Here are all the fun things I found today…

Farm floor puzzle for Hayden, Puzzle for Jeff and I, Yahtzee (practically brand new), cheese dome cloche, little tikes truck, little people and several small cars, tool box with tools, The Giving Tree and  Bible for Me, and a Christmas serving tray. I spent $8.00.

I just love finding these older items.

The Little People Cowboy was from 1990.  The fire truck was from the 60’s and the tanker truck is from the 70’s (both made in Britain).  I think Jen got a Pepsi truck that matches the tanker.  The 90’s Cookie Monster School bus matches a few other Sesame Street cars that I had previously gotten from GS.  I just love them!

We did it!

I am happy to report that we were successful in making Pioneer Woman’s famous homemade cinnamon rolls.  Do you know who the Pioneer Woman is?  If not, you must check out her site!  Especially her cooking site.  I am hoping Santa brings her cookbook to me for Christmas!

So, back to the cinnamon rolls.  All I can say is they are TO.DIE.FOR!  I have wanted to make them for quite some time.  But, finding time or making time for them was the trick.

We made the dough last night and stuck it in the fridge.  It takes about 2 hours to make the dough so we decided to finish them this morning.

LOTS of butter, sugar, and cinnamon!  The second batch was a little more messy than the first.  Marla suggested melting the butter and adding the sugar to the butter before pouring it onto the dough.  It worked great and even though this picture looks messy, I can’t imagine what it would be like if we didn’t do that.  Thanks Marla!

Let them rise a bit before sticking them in the oven…(It made 8 pans!)

PURE yummyness!  I think I could have eaten the whole pan.  But, I have only eaten 3 today.  But who is counting?

After making our cinnamon rolls, we headed to Bass Pro so Hayden could talk with Santa!  Time was running out and we wanted to make sure that Santa knew everything he was wishing for this year.

Waiting our turn…

DSC_0386

We waited less than 10 minutes.  (MUCH less than last year!) I have to admit I was quite nervous.  I had no idea how Hayden would react to Santa.  It didn’t help that pretty much every kid in line in front of us cried when they saw Santa.  Poor Santa…I hope he doesn’t take it personally!

Here goes…

Success!

I think the Santa scenery at Bass Pro is beautiful.  The wait (or lack there of) was wonderful!  You get a free 4x6 picture.  And, the boys in our family love them some Bass Pro!  I do wish the picture was a little more close up, but the pros definitely outweigh the cons in our book!

After our picture, we had to explore a bit.  We actually walked out of there not spending a dime.

After our visit to BPS, we went to Primos next door for a yummy lunch.  We had not eaten there before and we loved it!  We will definitely be going back!

And for fun…Check out last year’s picture.  Our baby boy isn’t a “baby” any more!
