Bye, Bye Grasshoppers!

DSC_0087

Have you had an overabundance of grasshoppers?  We sure have!  Goodness!  We always have a lot of them living in the country.   I mean, a whole lot of them.  But I am not sure I have ever seen anything like this year!

I can’t wait until all the grasshoppers are GONE!  And Hayden doesn’t have so many pets that want to ride along with him!

DSC_0076

Can you see them flying everywhere?

DSC_0058

Because everything is so dry and dead, we are actually seeing a lot less of them right now.  Or, maybe they are running out of things to eat.  DSC_0085

I hear rain will kill them because it causes a fungi that attacks them.  We wouldn’t really know anything about that this year though.  Many areas around us have gotten some “good” rains lately, but unfortunately most of it has somehow missed our house!

DSC_0088

I have just about pulled everything out of my flowerbeds because the grasshoppers have eaten most of it!  Or, the heat and drought has killed all the plants.  Kind of sad.  I was so proud of our flowerbeds when we finished then in the Spring.  Oh well, there are definitely a lot worse things in life!

Dad has had to start watering his cows out of troughs.

DSC_0490

Because most of his ponds look  about like this one behind our house.

I have to say, today’s temperatures were a welcomed surprise!  Maybe things will start looking a little better around here soon!

Oh, and if you aren’t my Facebook friend…I found my first gray hair today.  Very sad day.

Robin’s new “home”

DSC_0550

Yesterday, Dad, Mom, Hayden, and I got Robin all moved in to her new home.  She is living in the brand new freshman dorms at A&M Commerce.  She was so excited for this day to come!

Hayden was real unsure of all the noise, commotion, new people, and most of all the lion mascot costume.  He was holding on!

DSC_0553

We were there pretty much all day!  And, Robin and I had already moved stuff in on Saturday for an hour.  Just takes time to get all settled!

Hayden was a big help of course!  He really did quite well for all that was going on.   He played with all his trucks and tractors, played on the bed, played with Nanny and Granddaddy, and unscrewed all the door stops.   Ha!

In the dorm, her and her roommate have their own room, a living room area, a large vanity area and a bathroom.  It is really nice.  Brand new is always a plus!

She had “Lion Camp” today, tomorrow and Saturday.  Sunday is a day to rest.

And…Monday…reality begins!

Like Father, Like Mother, Like Son

Some of you asked to see pictures of me around Hayden’s age after I did the post comparing Jeff and Hayden.

Here I am at 2 years…

Popsicle Anyone?

Let me tell you, this boy loves him a good old fashion popsicle!  He knows right were they can be found and exactly which color he wants each time.

DSC_0496

He might or might not have 1 or 3 a day.  Hey, it’s helped us learn all our colors.

DSC_0499

He loves it right down to the last drop of juice.

Line em’ up…And our weekend!

DSC_0484

Hayden had so much fun with his cousins Blaze and Blade this weekend.  They played and played.  Especially Blade and Hayden.  They chased each other around the couch,  played with all the cars, trucks, tractors and other toys, and just laughed and laughed!

 Blade and Hayden

“Line em’ up” definitely runs in the family.  Hayden and Blade spent a considerable amount of time this weekend lining the cars and trucks smallest to largest and largest to smallest on Nanny and Granddaddy’s ottoman.  Once they got them just perfect, they would crash them to the floor.  Over and over.  Good times!

We celebrated Granddaddy’s birthday this weekend.  These boys love their Granddaddy!

Hayden has his eye on the prize!  That boy loves him some cake!

We also spent some quality time hanging out with Granddaddy’s cows.

Robin took this picture as we went for a Ranger ride this weekend.   Jeff, Hayden, and Granddaddy were riding in the front.  Robin, Blaze, and I were riding in the back.  It was so much fun.  Gotta love making family memories “redneck” style!  ;-)  Wish I had a picture of us all piled up in the Ranger!

Here’s another random line em’ up picture for you.

Weird to see…

I was going through older pictures tonight and although this was only about a month and a half ago, it seems like ages ago.  It is so weird to see this paci in his mouth.

DSC_1044

I am so glad we are rid of the paci and it was quite easy to do.  Now on to, operation POTTY TRAIN!  Any advice you want to share?

A little boy playing and a Momma with her camera…

That’s all this post is about.

I wish I had sound effects. He was using all his power and grunts to try to get that thing in the ground.

Forget that, I am going to put it up “HIGH”!

Swimming, Friends, and a Smoke Alarm

Swimming and friends go together.  But, the smoke alarm part has nothing to do with the other two.  I’ll get back to that one!

Yesterday, we enjoyed a swimming date with Kristin, Payton, Marla, Parker, and Grace.  We started early so we weren’t out when it was super hot!

The girls were so good about posing.  Hayden, on the other hand, not so much!

DSC_0401

He was a little more interested in playing…

And chasing the resident ducks…

After swimming, we picked up Chick-Fil-A and headed to Kristin’s house for lunch.

Hayden had a little date with Grace.

DSC_0425

Kristin turned on some music and Hayden was having fun dancing in the chair.

DSC_0427

Thanks for having us over to swim and play!

Today, Lexie and Hatley came over so we could do some Thirty-One business.  Hayden thinks Hatley is pretty special!  I think she is too!  ;-)  Is that bow not so stinkin’ cute?  Love!

DSC_0429

Now, to the fire alarm…

I woke up about 4:45 this morning to the screeching fire alarm yelling “Fire, Fire” along with its loud siren.  I thought I was dreaming.  It took me a second to realize what was going on.  First thing I did was look at Hayden in the monitor then run in there to him.  As soon as I opened his door, the alarm stopped.  He actually didn’t wake up from the alarm.  He woke up when I opened his door.  Then, he laid back down.  I looked around and didn’t see, smell, or hear anything.  I have no idea why it was going off.  (I don’t think it is batteries, because I think they are wired in.  Right Paul?)  Needless to say, my heart was pounding out of my chest for quite some time and I didn’t let Hayden sleep in his bed for the rest of “night”.   Fire is something I hope and pray that we never have to experience again.   Makes me kind of anxious to think about it again…

Hope you all have a great weekend!  Can’t wait to enjoy my family!
